If you ask any Porsche enthusiast to rattle off their dream garage for the brand, you’ll hear plenty of the most iconic racing and street cars they’ve ever produced. The 917, Carrera GT, 550 Spyder, 356 and many more are symbolic in the long history of motorsports and street presence, and are among the most enviable sports cars ever.
Not only would they be perfectly fitting for a dream garage, they’re also just part of noted Porsche collector Jerry Seinfeld’s garage. But they are soon to land in the next Porsche enthusiast’s garage, as Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island auction will be auctioning off a hefty list of significant Porsches from the comedian’s collection.
The nearly-all-inclusive list spans decades of progress, telling a long tale of the history of the Porsche brand. Seinfeld is as focused on racing history as Porsche’s motorsports division has been, devoting several spots in his collection for race-ready examples such as the 917/30 Can-Am Spyder, 718 RSK, 962C, 911 GT3 Cup and many more. Seinfeld claims that “each one of these cars is a pinnacle of mechanical culture for me,” and states that “many are the best examples that exist in the world.” The comedian is even offering his Carrera GT prototype, serving as the original basis for the instantly legendary supercar.
