McLaren 675LT

Experience the raw adrenaline of the McLaren 675LT, the lightest, most driver-focused, most exclusive series-production McLaren supercar ever built.

The 1997 McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ was the ultimate evolution of the Le Mans-winning F1 GTR. Almost two decades on, the limited-edition 675LT follows its uncompromising ethos to create a visceral driving experience of unique intensity. More power, less weight, more precision – nothing has escaped our attention in the quest for perfection on both road and track.

Inspired by the McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’, the 675LT features striking carbon fibre bodywork that increases downforce by an astonishing 40 percent over any other model in the Super Series.

Performance is similarly striking. The re-engineered M838TL V8 twin-turbocharged engine produces 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft) – increases of 25PS (25bhp) and 22Nm (16lb ft) – and the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is now twice as fast.

The carbon fibre MonoCell provides the 675LT with an unrivalled combination of lightness, safety and stiffness, in common with all models in the McLaren Super Series. But an obsessive weight-saving strategy unlocks a further 100kg reduction compared with the 650S. From lightweight carbon fibre racing seats to a 1mm thinner windscreen, no opportunity to save weight has been overlooked.

Ultra lightweight forged alloy wheels and Pirelli P-ZERO™ Trofeo R tyres, carbon ceramic brakes and an uprated suspension system that embraces technology from the McLaren P1™ also contribute to the radical specification.

Shot05_675LT_Profile-resize1500x937.jpg

DESIGN

Not only does the exterior design of the 675LT create maximum visual impact, but it also helps unleash its staggering performance. The race-inspired front splitter is now 80 percent larger and the distinctive rear ‘Longtail’ Airbrake’s aspect ratio increased by some 50 percent; both additions help increase downforce by an incredible 40 percent compared with the already efficient 650S. The unprecedented use of carbon fibre for a car in this class – including both new bumpers, and the entirely redesigned rear fenders and rear deck – also contributes to a substantial 100kg overall weight saving; a 1230kg dry weight makes the 675LT lighter than all class competitors, and gives an astonishing power-to-weight ratio of 549PS per tonne.

Inside, the performance-focused, weight-optimised design continues. Carpet has been removed revealing the carbon fibre MonoCell at the heart of the 675LT. Comfortable yet purposeful racing seats save 15kg, while larger rocker shift gear controls inspired by the McLaren P1™ underline the performance credentials of the 675LT.

CARBON FIBRE BONNET

The carbon fibre bonnet of the 650S Can-Am features stunning weaves of carbon fibre and a deep coating of lacquer for the ultimate finish. Not only does the carbon fibre bonnet create an incredibly striking appearance, but this advanced material also reduces weight for enhanced performance.

Shot03_675LT_Rear_1-crop6279x4104-crop6105x4094-resize370x248.jpgCARBON FIBRE REAR DECK, TITANIUM EXHAUST

The new carbon fibre rear deck features two enlarged air outlets, ensuring the additional cool air required by the more powerful M838TL engine can escape once hot. It also complements a new design of titanium exhaust, with distinctive twin circular outlets that create a unique visual signature.

OPTIMISED AIRBRAKE AND DIFFUSER

The active ‘Longtail’ Airbrake is now 50 percent larger to optimise downforce, but also lighter due to carbon fibre construction. It is subtly integrated with the all-new carbon fibre rear deck when not deployed, automatically increases aerodynamic stability at speed, and deploys more aggressively under hard braking to support the carbon ceramic brake discs and reduce forward pitch. A more aggressive carbon fibre rear diffuser further contributes to the incredible levels of downforce.

ENHANCED DOWNFORCE, EXTRA COOLING

Re-engineering the in-house-developed M838TL engine to produce 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft) necessarily demands an increased flow of cool air. As a result, the carbon fibre side intakes are significantly enlarged compared with 650S models, while all-new carbon fibre side skirts include an additional air intake to increase flow and contribute to the increased downforce generated by the all-new front splitter, rear deck, ‘Longtail’ Airbrake and diffuser.

PERFORMANCE

The 675LT has been extensively optimised within the in-house wind tunnel at the McLaren Technology Centre, an astonishingly potent race-proven engine produces 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft), and the suspension system has been engineered for even sharper responses.

Our twin-turbocharged V8 engine has always been the most potent in its class. Now our engineers have unleashed an additional 25PS (25bhp) and 22Nm (16lb ft) for a thrilling 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft), and a class-leading 549PS (541bhp) per tonne.

Extraordinary precision defines the 675LT as much as extraordinary performance. Lightweight connecting rods, bespoke camshafts and a new electronic recirculation valve, all maximise engine response, while 300 percent stiffer engine mounts optimise the connection between driver and road surface.

New machined-from-solid turbocharger compressor wheels maximise airflow to the combustion chambers, and an optimised fuel pump increases fuel flow. The combined result is breathtaking performance.

SUPER-FAST GEARBOX

Our seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox already provides near-instantaneous shifts to the other models in the McLaren Super Series, but the 675LT’s revised software strategy slashes response times to make gear changes twice as fast. Briefly cutting the ignition between changes creates the fastest possible shift, and an incredibly intense sound. The result is not only increased performance but a heightened sense of connection for the driver.

TITANIUM EXHAUST

A new lightweight titanium exhaust system instantly differentiates the 675LT, thanks to its distinctive twin exhaust outlets and uniquely rich, aggressive sound, particularly under full acceleration. But the lightweight exhaust system also plays a crucial role in unlocking the 675LT’s additional performance. A specially designed ‘crossover’ system – where the exhaust section that exits on the V8 engine’s left bank actually exits on the right of the car, and vice versa – provides the exact length of titanium tubing required for ultimate performance.

_U6A0267MCLAREN-crop3677x2774-resize370x279-crop370x246.jpgCARBON FIBRE BRAKES

The 675LT is specified with carbon fibre brake discs, greatly increasing stopping power and longevity compared with conventional brake systems. Six-piston calipers grip 394mm discs at the front, with four-piston calipers and 380mm discs at the rear. Stopping distances are further reduced with the ‘Longtail’ Airbrake, which deploys under heavy braking and features a unique control strategy to match the extreme capabilities of the 675LT.

PIRELLI P-ZERO™ INSPIRED TROFEO R TYRES

Road-legal, but with an extreme track focus, Pirelli P-ZERO™ Trofeo R tyres are fitted to the 675LT as standard equipment for peerless handling. The highly specialised tread pattern creates six percent more grip in normal conditions, and a stiffer structure significantly increases steering response and supports the 675LT’s sharper handling and faster reactions. Road-biased Pirelli P-ZERO™ tyres are available as a no-cost option.

LIGHTWEIGHT ALLOY WHEELS

Weighing 800g less than even the alloy wheels on the McLaren P1™, the Ultra Lightweight forged alloy wheels have been specially commissioned for the McLaren 675LT. Supplied in a 19-inch front and 20-inch rear fitment, the distinctive 10-spoke design is available as standard. A striking Super Lightweight five-spoke design can be ordered for additional impact. In both styles, these designs significantly reduce unsprung weight to optimise driver feedback.

McLAREN P1 INSPIRED SUSPENSION

The 675LT has a suspension system that has been radically engineered for extra driver engagement. With significant learnings taken from the McLaren P1™, the 675LT boasts increased agility and a decrease in mass by 13.7kg. The front track is 20 percent wider than that of the other Super Series range, spring rates increase 27 percent at the front, 63 percent at the rear, and an increased rake contributes to 40 percent more downforce. Naturally, the three adjustable suspension settings are uniquely calibrated for the hardcore focus of the 675LT

650s Coupe

Designed without Compromise

Every time you approach your McLaren 650S, you’ll feel the same tingle of excitement as when you first set eyes on it. Every panel, every surface, every detail has been painstakingly designed to take your breath away and enhance the thrill of the drive.

Interior

RACE-CRAFTED STEERING WHEELRACE-CRAFTED STEERING WHEEL

Grip the tactile, small-diameter steering wheel and your fingertips’ sense of connection to the McLaren 650S echoes that of our racing drivers in a Formula 1™ cockpit – the shape, the grip and the feel were all inspired by the steering wheels in our race cars. There are no buttons or switches to diminish the purity of interaction between man and machine.

FORMULA 1-INSPIRED GEARSHIFT

The McLaren 650S features a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox for super-fast gearshifts and peerless efficiency. You can control those gearshifts via a Formula 1-inspired rocker shift paddle mounted on the steering wheel. That means gearshifts are always at your fingertips, whether you’re flat-out through Eau Rouge or trickling through Monaco’s Grand Hotel Hairpin. A new feature allows for stacked shifts when the driver pulls the rocker shift multiple times, delivering the change directly to the desired gear. Or just select Auto and let the car do the work.

ACTIVE DYNAMIC PANEL (ADP)

How the suspension connects you to the road, how quickly the gearshifts react to your inputs, even the volume of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8… ADP’s Normal, Sport and Track modes allow you to tailor the McLaren 650S to your ideal driving preferences. Refined cruiser one minute, track-day thrill-seeker the next.

PANORAMIC VIEW

Not only does the McLaren 650S’s styling take your breath away, its exterior and interior have also been designed to keep your eyes on the road. The dashboard is laid out simply and logically, the steering wheel uncluttered. The low cowl – another benefit of the powerful V8 being positioned behind you – allows you to scan the road without obstruction, while the tops of the arches are positioned directly above the front wheels and are clearly visible from the driver’s seat. This means you can position the McLaren 650S perfectly, whether you’re clipping an apex at the Nürburgring or manoeuvring into a parking space.

SYMMETRICAL DESIGNSYMMETRICAL DESIGN

With a potent twin-turbo V8 at your disposal, it’s essential that you can easily locate every control in the McLaren 650S’s cabin. That’s why we’ve grouped every button and switch to reflect how often you’ll use them, minimising the time you need to look away from the road, or making it so intuitive that you simply don’t need to. Buttons that tailor the driving experience are grouped logically in the centre console; those for the climate-control zones are in the door panels to create an elegant symmetry.

ACTIVE AIRBRAKE

Now available in carbon fibre, the active Airbrake gives you total confidence to exploit the McLaren 650S’s astounding performance and dynamics. Brake heavily above 95kph and the McLaren 650S’s active Airbrake instantly deploys, meaning you can stop faster and brake even later on the racetrack. It also offsets front-end pitch and increases downforce under hard braking to maximise stability.

In Sport and Track modes, the Airbrake will automatically adjust to create more downforce at speed and offers additional stability when you lift the throttle. In Aero mode, you’ll even feel the same thrill as our racing drivers when DRS (Drag Reduction System) activates, lowering the Airbrake to provide those last few mph as you race towards the finish line.

AN INCREDIBLE FINISH

Just like our Formula 1 racers, every kilogram on the McLaren 650S has to justify its existence. It’s what makes our cars so exciting to drive. The McLaren 650S’s paintwork is no exception: our 3-stage, Formula 1-inspired paint technology ensures the colour, tint, lustre and finish is flawless, while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Whether it’s a personal favourite, or you want to evoke racing cars from McLaren’s illustrious past, you’ll find the perfect colour for your McLaren 650S. The AkzoNobel paints are mixed by hand, applied by hand and finished by hand to exacting standards.

Want something extra exclusive? Many of our Special and Elite paint finishes contain a higher level of metallic and pearlescent content. Using exclusive pigments and a greater holographic effect, these highly crafted finishes complement the car’s stunning design by accentuating every line, curve and contour of the body.

ICONIC DOORS

Simple. Effective. Undeniably spectacular. Our signature dihedral doors, first seen on the McLaren F1, are lighter and more aerodynamic than conventional doors. They are also more practical as the single hinge design requires less room to open and makes it much easier to get in and out the cabin.

LIGHTER. STRONGER. FASTER.

Not only do the McLaren 650S’s lightweight forged alloy wheels look stunning, they’re also incredibly strong and shed weight from the most beneficial place. That means they amplify the McLaren 650S’s breathtaking dynamics, improve its ride comfort and complement the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8’s mind-blowing performance.

They’re supplied with all new high-grip Pirelli P Zero™ Corsa System tyres developed in conjunction with McLaren. Stability is optimised for even faster cornering, improved traction and better braking.

ILLUMINATING DESIGN

Inspired by the McLaren P1 and echoing the McLaren speed mark, the 650S features striking all-LED headlights with all functions – dipped- and full-beam, indicators, day-time running lamps – illuminated by LED technology. LED headlights are as bright as Xenon, but last the life of the vehicle and draw less current, saving fuel and CO2.

Innovation

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE.

You feel the thrill of the drive, sense the connection to the road, hear the twin-turbo V8 roar as it hits peak rpm. But it all started with a blank piece of paper and our engineers wondering how they could make the perfect sportscar.

CARBON FIBRE MONOCELL

A huge part of the reason the McLaren 650S feels so intimately connected to the road is the carbon fibre MonoCell at its core. It’s strong, it’s light, it’s safe, it doesn’t flex when you finally dare to take Flugplatz flat. It makes the McLaren 650S feel fantastic.

We pioneered the use of carbon fibre in Formula 1 and in production road cars. For over 30 years, every car we have made has had carbon fibre at its core.

It took 4,000 hours to make each carbon fibre chassis on the McLaren F1. Twenty years of innovation later, it takes just four hours to produce the MonoCell that makes the McLaren 650S feel so special.

ACTIVE AERODYNAMICS

You’ll love it because it looks gorgeous, but it took hundreds of hours of advanced computational fluid dynamics, weeks of wind tunnel testing and an obsession with perfection to create the breathtaking contours of the McLaren 650S. The result is beautiful bodywork that just happens to help your lap time.

Every curve, every crease, every intake, every millimetre of the McLaren 650S is honed to improve aerodynamic performance.

SPLITTERsplitter_coupe.jpg

The low front accelerates airflow below the car, creating downforce that maximises traction and cornering ability, giving you extra confidence to push to the limit.

DIFFUSER

The harder you drive the McLaren 650S, the more it sticks itself to the road. Part of the reason lies with the Formula 1™ inspired flat underside and rear diffuser, which provide significant levels of downforce.

SIDE VENTS

Heat is the enemy of performance, and the harder you drive, the hotter things get. The side intakes force air into the cooling radiators keeping heat to a minimum for maximum performance.

AIRBRAKE

Press hard on the carbon ceramic brakes and the Airbrake deploys for even mightier stopping power. The Airbrake can also be partially deployed to act as a rear wing, increasing rear downforce by 20%, while a Drag Reduction System lowers it to maximise straight-line performance.
